Katie is the Director of Innovation Services at The Disruption Lab. She brings over fourteen years of experience working in marketing and public relations within Nashville’s largest industries including publishing and health care. Working in startup, entrepreneurial companies as well as a global health care corporation, her expertise is in building brands, creating effective communications strategies, building customer relationships and growing market share.
Prior to joining The Disruption Lab, she worked with Cigna, a global health services company, as a business communications specialist aligned to B2C businesses including seniors, individual family plans on the exchanges and employer group disability, voluntary and ancillary insurance benefits. Prior to working in health care, she was the managing editor of Nashville Arts Magazine, a premier art publication in Nashville, and before that, she was a literary agent and brand manager with Creative Trust, Inc. where, in addition to selling book deals and building author brands, she created the foreign rights department and grew revenue for the business.
Katie holds a B.A. from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she majored in English Literature with a focus on Creative Writing and a minor in Geopolitics, and an M.B.A. from Lipscomb University with a focus in business strategy and leadership. She has traveled extensively and studied in England and Prague, Czech Republic, and enjoys serving the community through volunteering.
